Position Title: Member Advocate I (HYBRID WORK)

Location: 550 N. Meridian Street, Suite 101, Indianapolis, IN 46204

Anticipated Start Date: 5/27

Expected Duration: 6 months

Job Type: Contract with possible extension

Shift: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EST (base, can flex 7:00 am - 6:00 pm, with prior approval)

Pay Rate: $18.00/hr on W2.

Note: 1 week a month will be traveling to the office. May be more/less based on business needs.


Job Description:

Position Purpose: Act as an advocate for the Member and a liaison between the Health Plan and Provider(s) to ensure availability and access to care. Establish a community presence, promote Member education, identify and resolve any systemic barriers that limit Members access to appropriate care.

Complete administrative tasks in OMNI - Balance Billing, PCP Updates, Full/Hold Panel Requests, Disenrollments, fulfilling member requests for ID Cards, Member Handbooks, Provider Directories, monitor team email boxes and respond to requests. Assist members coming onsite to the Member Connect Walk-in Office.

Maintain a "Meets Expectation" rating every month - which requires efficiency in completing tasks within the allotted timeframe and be fully productive 75% of scheduled hours.

Maintain a "Meets Expectation" each month/quarter for Quality - which requires accuracy in completing tasks according to our quality audit metrics.

Settle in - computer equipment, email, etc.
Meet and Greet - with Manager, Supervisor and team
Review assigned training and upcoming virtual training classes
Review schedule/rotation for onsite work

Required Skills/Experience:
Attention to detail/accuracy
Problem Solving / customer service / Communication Skills - email, phone, in person
3+ years of customer service experience in a healthcare environment

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of customer service experience in a healthcare environment. Medicare and/or Medicaid experience preferred.

Software Skills Required: Outlook, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) SharePoint, Intermediate Typing skills - 35-40 wpm

* Receive and respond to Member complaints and formal grievances and identify potential access barriers and resolve as indicated in the grievance procedure.
* Investigate and resolve access and cultural sensitivity issues identified by Member Services staff, State staff, providers, advocacy organizations and recipients.
* Participate in local community organizations to acquire knowledge and insight regarding the special health care needs of Members and update and revise educational materials as appropriate.
* Serve as primary contact for Member advocacy groups, human services agencies and the State entities.
* Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
