BCforward is currently seeking highly motivated Java Developer for an opportunity in San Mateo, CA 94497!

Position Title : Java Developer

Expected Contract length : 11+ Months with possibility of extension or Permanent (depends on your client needs and your performance in the contract)

Location : San Mateo, CA 94497

Clearance Level :Public Trust


  • Uses Java and Web-based skills to enhance the ePOBOL Java/J2EE components and associated interfaces to other applications and databases.
  • Performs all functional duties independently.
  • Works on high-visibility programs, or mission critical aspects of assigned program(s).
  • Oversees the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or is responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
Required Skills/Experience

  • 10+ years of experience developing and supporting Java/Oracle applications;
  • Ability to support requirements analysis;
  • Ability to support Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates for software business needs/requirements;
  • Advanced computer programming skills in Java, JavaScript, HTML, JSP, Java Servlet, JavaBeans, EJB, OO Design, and Active Server Pages (ASP);
  • Advanced programming skills in J2EE technologies, such as JNDI, JMS, RMI, XML, XSL, XSL-FO and JDBC;
  • Significant working knowledge of Java, IBM WebSphere, and Oracle;
  • Advanced programming skills with ANSI SQL for Oracle Database;
  • Advanced knowledge of HTTP, SSL, TCP/IP, CCS and document formatting;
  • Solid working experience with high-volume Internet/eCommerce applications;
  • Knowledge of the Unix operating system and associated utilities;
  • Ability to provide debugging and code analysis support;
  • Ability to support implementation of application software releases and other related activities;
  • Ability to perform knowledge transfer and walkthroughs; and
  • Ability to troubleshoot production problems.

Additional Skills/Experience

  • Agile Scrum experience preferred;
  • Ability to adhere to client development standards and comply with SOX requirements preferred;
  • Ability to perform all functional duties independently;
  • Experience training/mentoring less experienced personnel;
  • Experience authoring or contributing to software-related documentation such as requirements specifications, design documents, technical manuals, and user manuals;
  • Able to obtain Postal clearance;
  • Excellent communication skills.
