Position Description:
Working Conditions

Work is performed remotely from their home, industrial facilities, and may need to travel to Office for training and meetings.

The COVID-19 Industry Task Force Industrial Hygienist serves in the Environmental Public Health Division or the Epidemiology Resource Center.
The purpose of the position is to minimize employee risks associated with COVID-19 in Indiana industrial and food processing facilities. The scope of this position includes, but not limited to: conducting industrial site assessments, reporting metrics, and providing guidance as requested.

o A master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. public health, occupational health, or environmental health) and 2+ years of relevant experience, or o A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 4+ years of relevant experience, or
o Industrial Hygienist Certification.

Knowledge and skills
o Knowledge of occupational health and safety;
o Skill in identification of public health problems;
o Skill in conducting site assessments, inducing the use of appropriate field methods;
o Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of individuals and groups;
o Effectively train staff and industry contacts

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
* Meet with management to determine specific concerns applicable to the facility;
* Communicate with the Local Health Department (LDH) to inform them that we will be visiting the facility and to welcome their participation;
* Review the facility's COVID-19 response plan to ensure it meets or exceeds the guidelines and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC);
* Site walk through to assess engineering controls, personal protective equipment requirements, and social distancing put in place to protect employees in manufacturing and break areas;
* Observe employee adherence to the company's plan and policies;
* Discuss any additional disinfection, personal protection, company policies, and company actions that may assist in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 at the facility;
* Share applicable innovative ideas being implemented in other, similar facilities;
* Provide ongoing support for the facility as questions or concerns come up;
* Serve as a backup to other agency industrial hygienists;
* Perform related duties as assigned.
