Summary of Position: The Windows Support Engineer I shares responsibility in the design, development, support, and administration of our Cloud Systems' virtualized infrastructure. The position will be responsible for solving support issues escalated beyond the Service Desk, and managing and delivering small-scale projects. The Windows Support Engineer I must have a strong technical background with at least seven years of enterprise IT experience, adhering to ITIL practices, providing technical issue resolution and root cause corrective actions, and communicate with various levels of organizational and customer leadership. The Windows Support Engineer I will form key relationships with stakeholders, business leaders, and technical project teams to successfully drive Concerto Cloud Services based projects to completion.

Job Description:

The Windows Support Engineer I will be expected to participate in team building and to develop team and customer relationships. The Windows Support Engineer I will proactively look for ways to keep all time productive and will use non-customer time for personal training, internal projects and administrative tasks. The Windows Support Engineer I will be expected to be a Peer Partner to newly hired team members. The Windows Support Engineer I reports to the Director, Technical Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and resolving customer related support tickets that are escalated to the engineering level.
  • Respond to internal tickets and resolve issues related to Concerto Cloud Services Platform.
  • Leverage Microsoft Powershell to develop and execute reputable tasks.
  • In the event critical customer support issues arising, quickly gather peer team members to review and brainstorm solutions.
  • Subject matter expert in Windows Server OS support & administration, including configuring, maintaining, and resolving RDS, IIS, DFS, DHCP, DNS, Failover Clustering, and AD.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance related issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis, setup monitoring mechanisms, propose and implement permanent solutions.
  • Be an activate participant and contribute to brainstorming and planning activities.
  • Operation in a 24x7x365 environment which includes periodic 24x7 weekly on-call rotations

Minimum Requirements - Education, Skill & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, MIS, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7 years' experience troubleshooting advanced virtualized environments in Windows Server
  • Subject matter expert in Windows Server OS support & administration in either Windows 2012 or Windows 2008
  • Intermediate understanding of related storage technologies e.g. SAN, NAS using block storage, NFS and ISCSI
  • Intermediate use of HA/DRS functionality
  • Enterprise disaster recovery experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of ITIL practices
  • Experience leading technical projects or programs
  • Experience supporting a 24/7 hosted environment and meeting the accompanied SLAs and T&C's
  • Extensive project management experience with leading projects from planning to delivery
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing junior Systems Engineers
  • Must be comfortable working in fast pace and dynamic environment with high visibility
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional, matrix management environment with a highly collaborative, team oriented approach to problem solving
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Valid Driver's License required

Preferred Requirements- Education, Skill & Abilities:

  • Master's Degree in Business, MIS, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • MCITP, MCSA, MCSE, or VCP preferred
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: VMWare vSphere, VMWare View, Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop, Microsoft Hyper-V, F5 BIG IP, and/or Citrix Netscaler.
  • Understanding of Networking with Virtual Distributed Switched, Port groups, VLANs
