Job Title: Full Stack Software Engineer

Location: Chicago IL 60601

Expected Duration: 6 months Contract with possibility of going perm

Looking for a front end of React/Redux OR Angular/NgRx. React and Microservices exp-Required

Enterprise software development is often thought of as slow-moving and not particularly exciting to work on-but it doesn't have to be. We are a small team leading the charge to bring Lean/XP software development to a large organization, and we're looking for developers to further our mission.

Our process relies on fast feedback cycles and constant interaction between product managers, designers, and engineers. We're open with each other about what needs to improve (so we can fix it) and what's going well (so we can do more of it).

Your impact as a Full Stack Software Engineer

On a daily basis, you'll be:

Pair programming, because we know it delivers remarkable results

Writing tests, as our process relies on test-driven development (TDD)

Working with other engineers to determine the best approach for any given feature, including refactoring to keep a clean codebase

Working with product owners as we evolve requirements, iterate through features, and gather feedback

Your job will include:

• Working in an Agile/Lean/XP environment
• Writing front-end and back-end code
• Estimating complexity of user stories
• Working with both custom developed and vended applications
• Providing ongoing application support and troubleshooting
• Remaining up to date on current standards, technologies, and frameworks
• Being an advocate for healthy software development practices
• Proactively identifying risk areas and opportunities for improvement

You bring knowledge and expertise

Required Experience:

• 5-8+ years software engineering experience
• 2+ years in a leading role on project teams, with the ability to mentor and collaborate with other engineers
• 2+ years Experience in Test Driven Development (TDD) and Agile
• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience (including, but not limited to: Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems)
• Experience with three or more of the following programming languages: React, Java SpringBoot, Kotlin, Java
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new languages
• Strong collaboration skills and experience in pair programming
• Experience working with multiple microservices on the back end
• Need to work independently and able to work contribute when Pairing
• Need to work independently and able to work contribute when Pairing

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working in Lean/XP methodologies
• Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry and CI/CD methodologies
• Finance/Investment Consulting/Actuarial background

Education:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of industry experience.
