BCforward is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cell Utility Operator or Machine Operator @ East Aurora, NY.

Anticipated Start Date: 05/24/2021

Expected Duration: 6+ Months Contract.

Shift: 2nd Shift

Job Description

Function:

  • The Cell Utility Operator performs a complete range of operations which includes bench and machine operations to clean, polish, break edges, blend defects, remove contamination, remove flash, and detect unusual defects in material and workmanship.
  • Work will be performed on complex bodies having multi-internal-hole intersections.
  • The incumbent would perform diversified operations following standard procedures, operation sheets, blue prints, process instructions and sketches to plan entire sequence of work.
  • He/she would select, sharpen, and/or make special tooling as required: Select and use lighting aids, inspection gages, and visual magnification.
  • Inspects all work performed; detects unusual conditions such as defective material and deviate parts; and recognizes errors in blue prints and operation sheets.
  • He/she will also be required, as necessary, to operate Aqueous cleaning, Sweco and ECD equipment. He/she will actively participate in the tiered reporting process, such as production reporting, set daily plan, report and document any issues or delays utilizing the tier board.
  • The incumbent is expected to participate in lean activities such as lean layouts, Value stream mapping.

Essential job functions:

Responsibilities:

  • Deburrs, cleans, heat treats issues and stocks parts.
  • Operates equipment outside his/her area of expertise, as necessary, although is not required to be an "expert" in all machine families (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.).
  • Participates in the planning of work and resolving of problems within the Cell, using team skills.
  • Inspects all work performed and detects unusual conditions, defective materials, and deviate parts and recognizes errors in blueprints and operation sheets.
  • Positively contributes to the teamwork environment in terms of productivity, cooperation, data collection and attitude.
  • May be required to support production within Assembly & Test and/or the Manufacturing Shop.

Required skills:

Qualifications:

  • High school degree.
  • Up to one year related experience. At least six months experience deburring small parts.
  • Requires use of shop math.
  • Work from charts, tables, drawings, blueprints, operation sheets and verbal instructions.
  • Use of adjustable measuring instruments.
  • Perform diversified operations following standard procedures.
  • Expected to participate in the planning of work within the cell and to work with a group to help solve problems within the cell.
  • Requires continuous mental and visual attention: usually repetitive work or diversified operations requiring constant alertness or activity.
  • Physical effort consisting of lifting or moving light weight frequently; average to heavy weight-occasionally.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment including: pallet jacks, overhead cranes, slings and straps
  • Mental agility to prioritize and set a daily plan as well as the analytical ability to troubleshoot/problem solve in order to accomplish daily goals
  • Personal commitment to take initiative and meet or exceed standards; must have a quality oriented mindset

Up to one year related experience in Machine Operations and Machine Shop. At least six months experience deburring small parts. Work from charts, tables, drawings, blueprints, operation sheets and verbal instructions. Minimal experience in assembly operations of mechanical, electromechanical and other equipment.
