Role OverviewA leading technology research lab is seeking a Senior Character Artist Prototyper to help invent the future of digital presence in the Metaverse. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with creative directors, technical artists, research scientists, and engineers to explore complex research problems and create immersive demos showcasing state-of-the-art AR/VR avatar technologies. The work produced will help define the future vision for digital avatars and will be shared with top-level leadership to inspire and set direction for future metaverse initiatives.

- Rapidly iterate on digital character-focused demos and prototypes in small, nimble teams.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize digital assets for real-time applications.
- Create and texture character models, clothing assets, and hair/groom using industry-standard tools.
- Develop asset blueprints in Unreal or Unity game engines.
- Translate technical terminology for diverse stakeholders to drive understanding and buy-in.
- Identify potential roadblocks early and develop mitigation plans.
- Optimize models and textures for real-time rendering.
- Show Reels/Portfolios must be included at the top of the resume.
- 5+ years as a CG character and hardsurface modeler (Maya/Zbrush).
- Proficiency in creating asset blueprints within Unreal/Unity.
- Skilled in texturing, clothing asset creation, and grooms/hair using Substance, Marvelous, Maya, or similar tools.
- Strong communication skills, with proven ability to explain technical concepts to varied stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of asset optimization for real-time rendering (models, textures).
- 7-8 years of overall experience.
- Experience with shipped AAA games and/or film content development.
- AR/VR project experience.
- Familiarity with digital asset pipelines for VFX and video games.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies.
- Houdini experience (plus).
- Interest in AI (plus).
- Houdini
