Job Description

We are seeking a 2nd Shift Machinist to join our team. The role will start on a training shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, then transition to 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM upon completion of training. The ideal candidate will have strong experience operating mills and lathes, applying precision machining practices, and inspecting parts to blueprint specifications.

Responsibilities:

• Machine to specified dimensions while maintaining close tolerances, correlated dimensions, and required precision, concentricity, finish, and parallelism.
• Select appropriate speeds and feeds based on material type and finish requirements.
• Set up and fixture work using shims, wedges, parallels, blocks, supports, chucks, and other holding devices to ensure alignment and prevent movement or damage.
• Use precision measuring instruments to inspect in-process and finished parts and verify conformance to blueprint specifications.
• Lift items up to approximately 40 pounds and work overtime or alternate shifts as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of machine shop experience operating mills, lathes, or similar equipment.
• Basic knowledge of precision tools, machining methods, and cutting properties of metals.
• Ability to interpret and work to blueprint specifications.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with manual and CNC operation on mills, lathes, grinders, and coordinate measuring machines.
• 2+ additional years of machining experience.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Trade school technical certificate.
