Job Description:
Job Title: Software Developer (Windows Client/Server Environment)
Primary Purpose:
To develop, maintain, test, and debug software solutions in a Windows client/server environment. This role involves using development languages and platforms such as PL/SQL, Oracle, Progress 4GL, .NET, and Microsoft SQL. The Software Developer will work to define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding and will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and maintaining programs that address moderately complex business requirements.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Gain a thorough understanding of the application, including reports, parameters, claims management, intake services, and carrier/client and vendor/business partner interfaces.
- Analyze user requirements and assist in designing technical specifications to meet end-user needs.
- Develop and modify software applications to align with specifications provided in data processing requests.
- Ensure software compliance with insurance carrier and regulatory requirements.
- Test and debug own work; assist in the testing of code written by other developers.
- Prepare and maintain clear documentation for new and existing software.
- Investigate and resolve support escalations, correcting data and/or software as needed.
- Mentor and support junior programming staff in their professional development.
- Adhere to departmental standards and development guidelines.
- Commit to delivering high-quality customer service to internal and external clients.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and software development best practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Support and contribute to the organization's quality initiatives and programs.
Qualifications:
Education & Licensing:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- Preferred major: Information Systems or Computer Science.
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience in software development using relevant languages/platforms or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong background in interpreting user requirements and designing/developing business applications is highly preferred.
