Position Title: Payroll Clerk (Office Clerk General II)Locations: 458 South Main Street, Burlington, NC 27215Anticipated Start Date: 02/19Expected Duration: 6 MonthsJob Type: Contract with possible extension Shift: 8am - 5pm or 7:30am - 4:30pmPay Rate $19.00/hr. on W2 Need: Min 2yrs of Payroll /Garnishment Experience
Job Description:The Office/Mail Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of office activities by managing communication, maintaining records, and distributing mail. This position involves handling customer inquiries, organizing office data, and supporting administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication and multitasking skills.Key Responsibilities:
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, employees, and other individuals by answering questions, providing information, and addressing complaints in a professional manner.
- Mail and Inventory Management: Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail. Maintain and update inventory records, ensuring accuracy and organization.
- Record Keeping: Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities, business transactions, and other relevant data.
- Data Management: Compute, record, and proofread data, records, and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Administrative Support: Maintain and update filing systems, mailing lists, and databases. Assist with payroll records and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Technology Use: Utilize computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to create documents, manage data, and prepare reports.
Position: Payroll Department
Responsibilities:
- Distribute and manage incoming mail.
- Process Verification of Employment (VOE) requests.
- Handle and respond to emails from the Legal team.
- Upload documents to the ADP Wage Garnishment portal.
- Manage Broadspires-related tasks.
- Respond to HR tickets in a timely manner.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Team Lead or Director.
- Experience with Workday and ADP SmartCompliance is highly preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent multitasking and time management abilities.
- Customer service-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2-4 years of experience in administrative or customer service roles preferred.
