Job Description

We are seeking a Claims Examiner - Auto to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in auto casualty, complex liability and coverage analysis, BI/UM/UIM, and No-Fault/PIP and a proven ability to investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex commercial and personal auto claims up to $1M.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and process complex commercial and personal auto claims, including bodily injury and auto physical damage.
  • Review coverage, complete thorough investigations, determine liability, and evaluate damages with a settlement authority up to $1,000,000.
  • Handle BI/UM/UIM claims, including serious injuries such as fatalities, fractures, and traumatic brain injuries.
  • Manage litigation on assigned claims and collaborate with defense counsel on strategy and resolution.
  • Administer No-Fault/PIP claims and apply jurisdictional requirements and timelines.
  • Coordinate vendor management, including independent adjusters, medical experts, and appraisers.
  • Report large losses to excess carriers and maintain accurate large-loss documentation.
  • Develop and maintain action plans to meet state contact deadlines and drive prompt, appropriate resolution.
  • Identify and pursue subrogation and risk transfer opportunities; secure and dispose of salvage as appropriate.
  • Communicate claim status and actions with insureds, clients, agents, brokers, and stakeholders; present cases internally and externally.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Five (5)+ years of auto claims management experience across personal and commercial lines.
  • Proficiency in complex liability and coverage analysis, BI/UM/UIM, and No-Fault/PIP.
  • Demonstrated experience handling serious injury claims, including fatalities, fractures, and traumatic brain injuries.
  • Ability to manage litigated files and collaborate with counsel on strategy, evaluation, and resolution.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, Medicare considerations, deductibles, sub-limits, SIRs, and large deductible programs.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to brief stakeholders and present case strategies.
  • PC literacy with Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and meet service expectations and deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • TPA claims handling experience.
  • Auto Physical Damage claims experience.
  • Experience presenting complex cases to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant professional certifications preferred.
  • Active adjuster licenses in the contiguous 48 states or ability to secure and maintain required state licenses.
  • Ability to pass a background credit check for credit security clearance.
