BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated IT Software QA Advisor for an opportunity in Remote in Tennessee OR Ohio

Position Title: IT Software QA Advisor (Remote)
Location: Remote in TN OR OH
Duration: 12-month contract
Job Type: Contract to Hire

Pay Rate: $60.85/hour (W2)

Need: Over 8 years of QA experience with proven leadership in meetings, project coordination, defect tracking, and test documentation review; skilled in manual testing, SQL/Oracle, troubleshooting, and basic Unix, complemented by strong communication and organizational abilities.

Interview Process: 1-Phone Screen, 2: Virtual Round

Required:

  • 8+ years of QA experience
  • Leadership experience (leading meetings, attending project meetings, tracking production defects, and reviewing testing documents)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in SQL/Oracle
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Basic Unix experience
  • Manual testing expertise

Preferred:

  • Experience with Progress language
  • Quality Center/ALM
  • SharePoint
  • Smartsheet for project tracking

Primary Purpose

To design, develop, maintain, test, and debug tests for software and applications. This role involves determining the compatibility and impact of new programs on existing systems and test plans, developing expertise in and assuming responsibility for one or more specific system functions, formulating and defining system scope and objectives, devising or modifying tests to verify the implementation of complex problems, assuming responsibility for project completion, and providing guidance and training to Quality Assurance Analyst I colleagues.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Gain familiarity with all aspects of the application, including reports, parameters, claims management, intake services, carrier/client interfaces, and vendor/business partner interfaces.
  • Assume responsibility and develop expertise for a specific area of application functionality.
  • Define and establish quality assurance procedures, standards, metrics reporting, and auditing.
  • Analyze user needs as required and lead the design of tests to verify that end-user needs have been met.
  • Develop and maintain software test scripts and test plans to ensure systems meet the specifications outlined in data processing requests.
  • Assess requirements of insurance carriers and regulatory groups, leading the design and development of tests to verify compliance.
  • Test and verify software; assist in testing projects for members of the programming staff.
  • Prepare documentation for assigned projects and follow software release procedures.
  • Support the professional growth of Quality Assurance Analyst I colleagues.
  • Follow pre-established standards and guidelines related to the design and development of tests and test plans.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current quality assurance tools and technology advancements.
  • Deliver and maintain the highest quality of customer service to clients.

Additional Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support the organization's quality program(s).
  • Travel as required.

Qualifications

Education & Licensing:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Major in Information Systems or Computer Science preferred.

Experience:

  • Eight (8) years of information technology/computer science experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of testing/quality assurance experience, including two (2) years of specialized experience focusing on interpreting user requirements and developing business application tests.
  • Insurance industry experience preferred.
