IT Software Development Advisor
BCForward is looking for IT Software Development Advisor- Remote
Position: IT Software Development Advisor
Location: Remote
Anticipated Start Date: 03/10
Expected Duration: 10+ Months
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: $50.00/hr on W2
MANAGER'S NOTES:
- Experience in writing Packages for data loads.
- Experience creating and maintaining Stored Procedures (Packages, Procedures, Function, and anonymous block) with Oracle PL/SQL.
- Experience using Cursors to pull data from the Database.
- Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, explain plan, etc.
- Experience with external tables, and high-volume data import into Oracle DB.
- At least 8+ years of experience as an Oracle PL/SQL Developer.
- Strong skills in Oracle server-side programming, including SQL, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL Packages, Stored Procedures, Functions, Cursors, Triggers, Views, Materialized Views, Temporary tables, Object-Oriented PL/SQL Programming, Job Schedulers, PL/SQL Web-services, Java Stored Procedures, and Oracle AQ.
- Hands-on experience in XML generation inside PL/SQL components.
- Strong skills in data analysis, data modeling, development, testing, and documentation.
- Strong skills in automating jobs using UNIX Shell scripts to run all SQL files in a directory by invoking SQL*Plus.
- Hands-on writing Cursors, User-defined Object types, Records, and Tables in PL/SQL for generating worksheets, Arrays & Queues.
- Strong skills in Exception Handling, extensively debugging PL/SQL Code, DDL, DML, and displaying error messages in the application.
- Experience in creating Materialized Views and Indexes for better performance of summary tables, Autonomous Transactions, and coding Dynamic SQL Statements.
- Experience in SQL Tuning to improve query performance by identifying key fields, adding/removing tables/fields, and using indexes.
- Good understanding of Oracle Explain Plan.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To design and maintain robust, scalable software architecture for one or more elements of CMS software systems; to oversee programming, implementation, and maintenance revisions of specified projects; and to evaluate technologies and provide consultation regarding applications and systems needs related to these elements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures software scalability and data integrity throughout all claims-related applications.
- Ensures software compatibility and alignment with overall business, IT, and infrastructure strategies.
- Identifies and directs implementation of strategies for maintaining JURIS data and application integration.
- Collaborates with management and colleagues throughout CMS and develops overall designs and defines projects for implementation of strategic technology initiatives.
- Consults with project managers to keep informed of active and future projects and to identify areas of overlap.
- Assists as needed in the implementation of large client programs involving numerous interfaces or system modifications.
- Manages analyst/programmers as needed.
- Reviews software change requests to identify duplication, similarities, and feasibility and recommends specific actions needed.
- Provides recommendations toward prioritization of tactical and strategic change requests.
- Assists in projecting software and hardware requirements for claims-related applications.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.
- Interviews, hires, and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance discussions.
- Provides support, guidance, leadership, and motivation to promote maximum performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Licensing:
- Bachelor's degree with a major in Information Systems or Management from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Master's degree strongly preferred.
Experience:
- Ten (10) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education or experience required, including seven (7) years of software and development experience.
- Five (5) years of hands-on programming experience in database and data-driven applications strongly preferred.
Skills & Knowledge:
- High-level knowledge of software development areas, including software development life cycle methodologies, specification development, security, application modularization, and logic specifications.
- Strong oral and written communication, including technical writing skills and presentation skills.
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
- Leadership/management/motivational skills.
- Analytical and interpretive skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
