Position Title: Materials Engineer IILocation: Redmond, WAAnticipated Start Date: 10/28/2025Please note this is the target date and is subject to change. About the Role
Client is seeking a skilled Materials Engineer for a temporary assignment to support ongoing projects in materials science and engineering. This contingent role is ideal for an independent contractor or temporary worker and is not a full-time employment opportunity. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and uphold the highest standards in the development and application of materials for optical components.
Responsibilities
Must-Have Skills
1 Proven experience in materials research, development, and testing. Experience with polymer material and formulation development for optical coatings.
2 Able to work in a chemical laboratory or cleanroom environment and operate tools for conducting experiments and collecting metrology data.
3 Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication skills and ability to work independently/collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Nice-to-have Skills
1 Experience with material and optical characterization tools.
2 Experience with 3D printing.
3 PhD preferred
Years of Experience:
Materials engineer with 2-4 years of experience in polymer synthesis, formulation development, inkjet printing, and coating processes.
Degrees/Certifications Required:
Master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field at minimum PhD preferred

- Lead research and development efforts in materials and interfaces, with a focus on innovative solutions for inkjet printing of ophthalmic lenses.
- Analyze, test, and characterize materials to ensure alignment with project specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and manufacturing teams to facilitate the integration of new materials into existing processes.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
- Master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
