Job Description
We are seeking a Development Specialist to serve as the Arizona Talking Book Library's chief fundraiser and primary relationship manager for major donors, corporations, and grantmaking institutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in comprehensive fundraising strategy, donor cultivation, corporate and foundation relations, and grant writing and a proven ability to achieve or exceed annual fundraising targets and run successful campaigns in Arizona. The role supports the library's vision, "That All May Read," serving individuals who use audio, braille, and alternate format materials.
Responsibilities:
- Design, manage, and execute a comprehensive fundraising program for foundations, corporations, and individual donors.
- Conduct research to identify new donors and aligned funding opportunities at local, state, and national levels.
- Develop and maintain a donor database to track relationships, giving history, and stewardship activities.
- Monitor and analyze campaign effectiveness, report results, and adjust strategies based on data.
- Create cultivation and stewardship plans, including one-on-one meetings, small events, library tours, and recognition opportunities.
- Draft correspondence, proposals, updates, donor communications, impact stories, and annual donor reports.
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all fundraising efforts.
- Meet with library leadership on a regular cadence to evaluate fundraising efforts and portfolio progress.
- Serve as liaison and advisor to the Arizona Friends of Talking Books; attend board meetings and collaborate on joint strategies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency with donor management software and CRM tools.
- Knowledge of effective fundraising strategies, including donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Knowledge of accounting practices for fundraising recordkeeping and reporting.
- Knowledge of estate planning and tax laws related to charitable giving.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling proposals and cases for support.
- Time management skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a part-time schedule.
- Ability to build and manage a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and institutional funders.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain donor relationships across regions in Arizona.
Preferred Skills:
- Fundraising Professional Certification (e.g., CFRE or FPCC) preferred, not required.
- Established community connections and relationship-building experience in Arizona.
