BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Collibra Data Specialist for an opportunity in GA.
Position Title: Collibra Data Specialist
Location: Hybrid in Burbank CA/ Atlanta GA
Expected Duration: 5+ Months

Job Description:
We are seeking a Data Catalog Subject Matter Expert (SME) with expertise in Collibra to join our team as an individual contributor. The role involves configuring and deploying the Collibra data catalog system, managing metadata, development of custom workflows and ensuring accurate data classification and technical lineage. The SME will collaborate with business units to capture and document catalog use cases and translate them into technical requirements. Additionally, the SME will work with other catalog SMEs to share best practices and continuously improve the data catalog system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data management, governance, and hands-on experience with Collibra tools
Key Responsibilities:
Collibra Data Catalog Implementation:
- Lead the configuration and deployment of the Collibra data catalog system.
- Expert in Collibra implementation- technical metadata ingestion using edge, Collibra workflows, lineage harvester, data profiling, sample data ingestion, data quality and data classification etc.
- Ensure the catalog accurately reflects the organization's data assets and meets business requirements.
- Metadata Gathering and Management:
- Collect, organize, and manage metadata within the Collibra platform.
- Ensure metadata is accurate, complete, and provides meaningful context for data users.
- Implement and maintain data classification standards to enhance data discoverability and governance.
Capture and Document Use Cases:
- Work closely with business units, data scientists, and IT teams to capture and document catalog use cases.
- Translate business needs into technical requirements for the data catalog.
- Technical Lineage and Data Classification:
- Expert in Collibra technical lineage for data sources, BI platforms, ETL and ERP tools, automated stitching, understanding and capturing STTM, customized lineage and integration development
- Implement and manage data classification schemes to ensure data is categorized appropriately based on sensitivity and usage.
- Collaboration with Catalog SMEs:
- Collaborate with other catalog SMEs to share knowledge and best practices.
- Provide expertise and support to ensure the effective use of the Collibra data catalog.
Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the data catalog system.
- Identify opportunities for enhancements and implement improvements to optimize the catalog's functionality and user experience.
