Pay Range: $65.00/HR - $69.00/HR

Job Summary:
The North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) is seeking an experienced Network Support Specialist to assist with a comprehensive Local Area Network (LAN) refresh project. This role involves providing Tier 2 support for wide area network systems, including Metro Ethernet, L3 routing, MPLS, QoS, and L2 switching. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network implementation, configuration, and project coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement new releases of service components into the operational environment following well-defined, controlled processes for change configuration and release management.
- Maintain accurate information on all IT assets and configurations within the service.
- Coordinate the deployment and implementation of wide area networks for state agencies and institutions requiring connectivity to the North Carolina Information Network.
- Develop provisioning, configuration, and deployment plans, and coordinate with agencies before and during the implementation of these plans.
- Ensure equipment availability, correct configuration, and provide general oversight of the entire project.
- Consult with service delivery staff to fulfill service requests, including the provisioning of data locations.
- Provide expertise in the configuration of VLANs and have demonstrated knowledge in this area.
- Work with all Cisco routers and switches, ensuring proper setup and operation.
- Possess knowledge and/or experience with Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN).
Required Skills:
Switch Configuration:
- Expertise in IP routing, VLAN configurations, interface configuration (7 years).
Test and Turn Up:
- Experience with testing and turning up new switches to ensure access points, phones, and data networks function properly (7 years).
Project Coordination:
- Experience in coordinating the deployment and implementation of wide area networks for state agencies and institutions (7 years).
VLAN Configuration:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in VLAN configuration (7 years).
WLAN Experience:
- Knowledge and/or experience with WLAN (7 years).
