Job Description

We are seeking a Tax Collector 2 to join our team supporting tax collections. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in high-volume call center collections and taxpayer education and a proven ability to resolve delinquent tax liabilities, negotiate payment arrangements, and promote voluntary compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Review taxpayer accounts for Individual Income, Corporate Income, Withholding, and Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT).
  • Verify, gather, and update key taxpayer information across multiple systems.
  • Educate taxpayers on online resources and current tax policies to promote compliance.
  • Contact taxpayers by phone to resolve delinquent tax liabilities and negotiate payment arrangements.
  • Schedule and conduct field visits to residences, places of employment, and business locations as assigned.
  • Review financial statements and supporting documentation to determine appropriate actions.
  • Document actions taken accurately in multiple systems and meet performance expectations.
  • Participate in seizure and sale of assets or inventory to satisfy delinquent liabilities, including identifying lien property, valuing assets, securing property, preparing for public auction, and assisting with physical movement of assets.
  • Engage in team activities and contribute to process improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Clear written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to retain knowledge and apply creative problem solving to achieve goals.
  • Experience: Two most recent positions each at least one consecutive year in a fast-paced national call center (finance/banking, insurance, or telecommunications; not switchboard/dispatch).

Preferred Skills:

  • Spanish-speaking.
  • Experience participating in process improvement activities.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or higher preferred.

Work Conditions & Additional Information:

  • Hybrid role. Training is onsite and estimated to last 3-6 weeks, typically 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Attendance is critical.
  • Operating hours 8:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Schedule will fall within these hours. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as dictated by business needs.
  • Must reside in the Greater Phoenix Metro Area and attend first-day orientation in person.
  • Hardwired internet with sufficient bandwidth required. If using a 5G router, bring it on day 1 for IT setup.
  • Ability to transport issued equipment between office and home (micro desktop, two monitors, keyboard, mouse, headset). Public transportation is not suitable for this task.
  • Short stint work history will likely not move to interview.
  • Candidates must be current on Arizona state taxes.
  • Pre-employment checks required: state and federal background check, fingerprinting, and Arizona tax filing records check for the previous 5 years.
  • Potential for permanent employment based on performance, dependability, and culture alignment.
