BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Package Labeling Specialist for Remote opportunity.

Position Title: Package Labeling Specialist

Location: Minneapolis, MN (REMOTE - LOCAL PREFERRED)

Anticipated Start Date: 5/19/2025

Expected Duration: 6+ months

Job Type: Part Time (16 TO 24 HRS PER WEEK) - CONTRACT - REMOTE

Pay Range: $25/hr to $35/hr

Please note that actual compensation may vary within this range due to factors such as location, experience, and job responsibilities, and does not encompass additional non-standard compensation (e.g., benefits, paid time off, per diem, etc.).

Key Responsibilities

  • This is a Client Dynamic Talent Bench, 1300 hour track position. Seeking flexible, part-time talent with package labeling experience, ideally in human and/or pet food consumer packaged goods.
  • Experience in Dairy labeling is a plus.
  • Hours will range from 16-24 hr/wk during first shift business hours (7am-5pm), may be flexible from week to week, and will not exceed 1300 hours annually.
  • Position is intended to be open-ended, so there is no true end date.
  • Contracts will be extended as long as success in assignments is achieved.
  • Remote talent will be considered for these positions.
  • Personal or talent agency provided technology is required.
  • No Macs please.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Client Dynamic Talent team members will be engaged for defined assignments across our Client Food Safety and Quality community that require package labeling expertise.
  • Labeling Specialists work closely with R&D Platforms, Quality, and Operations.
Responsibilities may include any of the following, depending on the scope of the assigned projects:

  • Develop an understanding of FDA and USDA labeling regulations and company policies.
  • Work closely with labeling team to support project and business work.
  • Develop and maintain accurate food labeling information for finished products (e.g. allergens, nutrition, ingredient statements, product name, claims) to assure compliance with federal and state regulations (FDA, USDA), third-party certification standards (non-GMO project, GFCO) and our policies.
  • Work across functional teams to assure compliance with local and regional regulations, third-party certification standards, and company policies.
  • Complete and submit documentation to support regulatory requirements and claims.
  • Contribute to, review and approve artwork, packaging, graphics and text of existing and proposed product labels to ensure accuracy, consistency, and regulation compliance.
  • Develop and inform communication for consumer and customer inquiries pertaining to labeling.
  • Collaborate to manage regulatory, food safety, litigation, brand and third-party risk for our products and businesses and provide input into risk management decisions, balancing regulatory risk with business and operational needs.
Job Qualifications:

  • BS Nutrition or Food Science or related field.
  • 3 years of experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable working with teams. Evidence of strong problem solving.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple database systems and network efficiently to get information required to complete tasks.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, proficient in multitasking and prioritization to meet deadlines.
  • Build effective relationships, seek additional work when assigned business is slow.
Preferred experience:

  • Working knowledge of regional regulatory standards and documentation requirements
  • Working knowledge of food product development, commercialization and related processes
  • Working knowledge of food safety and allergens
