BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Security Officer for an opportunity in Phoenix, AZ 85008

Pay Range: $18 to $19/hr on W2

Job Description:
The Security Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the hospital environment, responding to emergencies, and assisting staff in handling critical patient interactions. The role includes patrolling assigned areas, monitoring security equipment, assisting in patient interventions, and ensuring compliance with hospital security policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to and participate in emergencies, codes, drills, and safety inspections.
- Rotate through various assigned security posts or serve as an interior rover.
- Assist in patient interventions to support medical staff.
- Resolve patient conflicts and apply Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) techniques.
- Provide timely reports and feedback to the Hospital Security Supervisor.
- Conduct vehicle and radio maintenance, safety inspections, and documentation.
- Operate electronic surveillance equipment and communicate using radio devices.
- Properly investigate security incidents and write reports.
- Respond to hospital-related security codes and assist in crisis situations.
- Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, and visitors.
- Assist in evacuation procedures and operate fire extinguishers.
- Perform physical duties such as lifting and carrying when necessary.
- Foster an inclusive work environment that supports a diverse workforce.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to receive, transmit, and follow verbal/written directives.
- Proficiency in verbal de-escalation techniques.
- Knowledge of evacuation procedures and fire extinguisher operation.
- Experience in investigation and report writing.
- Capability to monitor and operate security-related equipment.
- Ability to provide verbal and/or physical intervention in crisis situations.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.
- Physical ability to perform lifting and carrying.
Required Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience in security, behavioral health settings, hospital/institutional security, or law enforcement.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Valid Arizona Driver's License with the ability to drive as a rover.
- Ability to obtain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card as per A.R.S. § 41-1758.07.
- Certification in CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) (must be obtained and maintained).
- State employees who drive on state business must:
- Possess a valid state-issued driver's license.
- Maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Complete required driver training per Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11.
Additional Information:
- This is a contract-to-hire position with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent State Security Officer role after four months.
- Candidates must be available for multiple shifts as per hospital security needs.
- The role requires working in a hospital setting, handling patient interactions, and responding to emergencies as needed.
