Job Description:

Title: UX Researcher

Location: Redmond, WA (1-2 days/week onsite)

Duration: 9 Months (Potential chances for extension)

Candidate Requirements:

  • Years of Experience Required: 3-5 overall years of experience in the field.
  • Degrees or certifications required: graduate degree (Master's degree or Ph.D) is required in various fields, such as computer science, experimental psychology, sociology, human factors background, etc. to be eligible for this role.
  • Disqualifiers: Candidates without development experience will not be eligible for the role. Consumer experience only will be considered a weakness.
  • Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain undergraduate studies in computer science and graduate studies in human factors/integration. Experience working with developers and experience in highly technical field would plus.
  • Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on quality of work.

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience with robust set of UX research skills

  • Summary:

    The main function of a usability researcher is to research market conditions in local, regional, or national areas to determine potential sales of a product or service. A typical marketing analyst is responsible for gathering information on competitors and methods of marketing and distribution.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Forecast and track marketing and sales trends, analyzing collected data.
    • Conduct research on consumer opinions and marketing strategies, collaborating with marketing professionals, statisticians, pollsters, and other professionals.
    • Devise and evaluate methods and procedures for collecting data, such as surveys, opinion polls, or questionnaires, or arrange to obtain existing data.
    • Gather data on competitors and analyze their prices, sales, and method of marketing and distribution.
    • Measure the effectiveness of marketing, advertising, and communications programs and strategies.

    Skills:

    • Verbal and written communication skills, negotiation skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
    • Basic ability to work independently and manage one's time.
    • Basic knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.
    • Basic knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods.

    Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in marketing or equivalent training required.
    • 2-4 years related experience required.

    We are looking for a Contract UX Researcher with the ability to conduct a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods impacting both product direction and detailed experience design. You will work with and receive mentorship from a supervising Senior UX Researcher. You will be joining a team of 20+ talented UX researchers whose charter is to design end-to-end experiences for all developers that are useful, usable, and desirable. In this role, you will work in a highly collaborative environment with engineering and business teams across the division to help make data driven decisions. Your work will happen in the context of a lean or agile development environment supporting the release cadence of teams as well as helping define the strategic direction of products.     Responsibilities:


  • Design and conduct a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods applicable to all product stages from conception to release, including lab-based usability tests, focus groups, interviews, surveys, and field research
  • Work in a highly iterative design environment that emphasized democratization/coaching of UX research practices
  • Collaborate closely with design, engineering, and business partners during all steps of research
  • Translate research findings into actionable recommendations and deliver them in compelling ways
  • Triangulate multiple data sources into integrated insights
  • Communicate and evangelize research results to engineering and business teams

  • Requirements


  • A degree in human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, behavioral science, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of a range of UX research approaches and methodologies
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills with a proven ability to turn research results into product insights
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence a range of audiences
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • The ability to work independently and be flexible to rapidly changing schedules and demands
  • The ability to get up to speed with a new area quickly
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and familiarity with modern developer platforms and ecosystems a plus
