This role involves collaborating with scientists, software engineers, and IT professionals to analyze, predict, and optimize cloud infrastructure and software expenses.
The position will leverage your expertise in cloud computing, infrastructure optimization, and stakeholder communication to support diverse existing and new scientific applications.
Key responsibilities include infrastructure cost estimation, forecasting, identifying cost savings, developing tagging strategies, and contributing to the annual budgeting process.
You will be part of a growing team of cloud engineers with varied technical and life science backgrounds, collectively building a modern public cloud research and development environment to advance drug development goals.
The Research and Early Development organization is a leading research and drug development entity comprising accomplished scientists, bioinformaticians, and computational researchers with extensive scientific knowledge across numerous fields.
Fostering a collaborative, academic environment with frequent publications in prominent journals, researchers utilize technologies such as high-performance computing, cloud platforms, modern software development tools, petabyte-scale storage, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
Responsibilities
Annual cost estimation and for new and existing AWS projects
Cost tracking and forecasting across a portfolio of cloud accounts
Identification of potential savings opportunities and strategies to reduce cloud costs Partnership with IT and finance to improve budgeting estimates, forecasts and processes Continuously capture, analyze and present costs, utilization, waste & potential savings Educate and coach team members and colleagues on cost monitoring and optimization Responsible for gathering and aggregating data from multiple systems and work process into a portfolio capable of visualization and interpretation
Qualifications:
Minimum education level is a bachelor's degree, preferably in a technology discipline 3+ years of experience working in a cloud infrastructure and computing related role Understanding of AWS infrastructure technologies, their use and ways to estimate cost Use of tools to capture, track and analyze cloud infrastructure usage and costs Data analysis skills including processing, interpretation, storytelling and visualization Excellent interpersonal skills with your own team, technical IT partners, and customers Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to non-technical audiences Benefits
