Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer (COBOL) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mainframe design, COBOL development, and enterprise-scale engineering across heterogeneous infrastructure and a proven ability to lead Agile delivery, coach engineers, and implement CI/CD, TDD, and secure, resilient solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mainframe solutions using COBOL and related tooling for firm-wide programs.
• Engineer integrations across multiple operating systems and infrastructure platforms at scale.
• Champion Agile practices and cultivate high-performing teams using Scrum or Kanban.
• Establish and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines for mainframe workloads.
• Apply Test-Driven Development and automated testing to improve code quality and reliability.
• Embed resiliency and security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Serve as a technical coach and mentor for engineers in at least one core skill area.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and guide their pragmatic adoption to meet business objectives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Expertise in mainframe engineering, COBOL, and enterprise design techniques.
• Proficiency across the software development lifecycle and modern toolchains.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and TDD for mainframe applications.
• Strong knowledge of resiliency, observability, and security patterns.
• Demonstrated leadership in Agile methods and team enablement.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement across large programs.
• Experience level: 7+ years in mainframe engineering or related roles.

Preferred Skills:

• Exposure to cloud-aligned development patterns and hybrid integration.
• Public speaking, technical writing, or community leadership.
