Job Description:

BCforward is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician to join the Maize Transformation Team within Crop Transformation Systems in Biotechnology/Trait Discovery and Optimization.

The selected candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory-based tasks related to maize transformation and genome editing. This role requires adherence to standard operating procedures to ensure high-quality transgenic and genome-edited events, supporting trait discovery, optimization, and product development programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare plant explants and execute transformation processes.
• Conduct sub-culturing and tissue selection for transgenic and genome-edited plant production.
• Regenerate tissue to produce high-quality transgenic maize plants.
• Maintain accurate electronic and legal laboratory notebooks for all research work.
• Summarize research findings, document results, and identify areas for improvement.
• Follow all safety, ergonomic, and compliance standards within the laboratory.
• Organize daily workflow efficiently to meet project timelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in plant tissue culture, genetic transformation, or molecular biology is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to follow protocols and standard operating procedures in a laboratory setting.
• Effective teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Positive attitude, problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to work in a dynamic environment.
