Job Description
We are seeking a Sr. Packaging Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cGMP clinical packaging operations, label control, and equipment oversight and a proven ability to lead production rooms, maintain quality output from batch records, and train team members.
Responsibilities:
- Lead production rooms and runs from pre-line through execution to post-line activities.
- Perform production electronic batch record (EBR) reviews and ensure quality output.
- Oversee label control, including label printing, creation of master blinding forms, and initial/final label inspections with 100% accountability.
- Manage Fastchain productions and meet 3-day turnaround requirements.
- Serve as JDE subject matter expert for production activities.
- Conduct and document on-the-job training (OJT) for production team members.
- Share responsibility with the Production Manager for schedule adherence and day-to-day room staffing and oversight.
- Assist with investigations for deviations or customer complaints resulting from operational processes.
- Execute clinical operations including blister fill, bottle fill, pouching, carding, vial/syringe inspection, and hand assembly as assigned.
- Inspect blister cavities for missing products, burnt product, foil defects, print registration, missing print, crushed blisters, and seal integrity; place blister units into assigned card locations for multi-fill operations.
- Fill tablet, bottle, desiccant, and closure hoppers; perform hand counts using counting trays.
- Execute de-inking, tablet breaking, placement into oversized capsules, and capsule inspections.
- Inspect bottles for closure alignment and print quality; verify pouch seal integrity and print registration.
- Perform vial, ampoule, and syringe inspections using black and white light boxes.
- Support cold storage packaging operations in ambient and refrigerated environments.
- Use barcode scanners and computers to complete assembly and documentation tasks.
- Clean equipment, product-contact parts, and production rooms per SOPs; complete cleaning logbooks; execute three-bucket mop cleaning of ceilings, walls, and floors.
- Handle look-alike products with strict segregation; on multi-fill projects, work only on assigned product.
- Inspect sealed clinical cards for copy accuracy, seal quality, cleanliness, alignment, and product condition; apply clinical labels manually or automatically with full accountability.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in cGMP clinical packaging operations, including blistering, bottling, carding, pouching, and labeling.
- Strong attention to detail with experience handling multiple look-alike products under segregation controls.
- Demonstrated ability to lead production rooms, review EBRs, and maintain schedules.
- Experience with label control, inspections, and accountability processes.
- Working knowledge of JDE for production activities and barcoding systems.
- Ability to train and mentor production staff through structured OJT.
- 6+ years of relevant industry experience in a cGMP environment or comparable pharmaceutical/clinical operations experience.
- 4+ years operating and maintaining packaging equipment such as blistering, bottling, and carding systems.
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience supporting deviations, investigations, and continuous improvement activities.
