Job Description
We are seeking a Prototype Assembly Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in opto-mechanical and electrical assembly, including soldering, lamination, machining, and active optical alignment and a proven ability to independently build, rework, and calibrate optical prototypes while documenting procedures and results.
Responsibilities:
- Laminate and process optical assemblies for prototypes.
- Perform hands-on active alignment of optical modules for devices.
- Execute careful hand assembly and precision part processing.
- Rework prototypes and components mechanically and electrically.
- Operate custom calibration and assembly equipment.
- Author documentation, SOPs, and reports for assembly practices and opto-mechanical test data.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Mechanical background and hands-on aptitude.
- 5+ years of experience in a related technical field.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Optics, or a related technical field.
- Experience in an R&D lab supporting product development.
- Rapid prototyping skills across multiple disciplines.
- Laser safety knowledge and practice.
- Calibration experience with camera-based sensors.
- Experience authoring SOPs for assembly and test.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with cleanroom procedures and equipment.
- Optical metrology experience.
