BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Exception Management Analyst for an opportunity in Newark, DE!
Job Title: Exception Management Analyst
Contractor: 3-month contract with possible extension and conversion to FTE
Location: Newark, DE 19713
Pay Rate: $35/hr.
Seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Exception Management Analyst to join our Wholesale Loan Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and risk assessing exceptions related to syndicated and bilateral commercial loan transactions. Your analysis will help protect the firm from operational and financial risk while supporting business continuity across the wholesale lending lifecycle.
Youll collaborate with internal stakeholders-including Operations, Technology, Risk, and Controls teams-to triage exceptions, assess potential impact, and escalate as necessary. This role is ideal for someone with a strong control mindset and a working knowledge of commercial loan products and operational flows.
Job Responsibilities:
* Monitor exception reports and dashboards to identify breaks or discrepancies in wholesale loan data, payments, and documentation.
* Monitor the team daily to ensure all SLAs are met and escalate exceptions for resolution.
* Perform detailed risk assessments of exceptions to determine root cause, exposure level, and required escalation paths.
* Collaborate with business partners to ensure timely risk mitigation strategies are in place for high-impact or recurring exceptions.
* Maintain detailed and audit-ready documentation supporting exception findings, assessments, and recommended actions.
* Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance exception detection and reduce operational risk.
* Assist in preparing trend analysis and control reporting for senior stakeholders.
* Identify alternatives and options for addressing issues and exploring scenarios.
* Collaborate effectively with colleagues, leveraging diverse skills to achieve goals.
* Detect training needs for process and soft skills to enhance performance.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Capabilities:
* 1-2 years of experience in commercial or wholesale loan operations, middle office, or control functions within financial services.
* Ability to identify operational risks and control gaps, with strong critical thinking and documentation skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to work with large datasets and perform trend analysis.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, solution-focused mindset.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Capabilities:
* Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field, or supplemental experience
* Experience with Alteryx for process automation or exception mapping.
* Ability to build and maintain dashboards using Tableau or similar tools.
* Familiarity with exception management tools or reconciliation platforms.
* Knowledge of internal control frameworks and regulatory requirements applicable to wholesale lending.
* Strong understanding of syndicated and bilateral loan products and loan servicing platforms (e.g., LoanIQ).
