Job Description
BCforward is seeking a Product Engineer to join the Space and Defense Group Spacecraft Avionics team. You will provide engineering support and direction for production programs involving electronics, including circuit boards, associated test equipment systems, and software. You will report to the Engineering Manager and/or an assigned mentor. You will resolve product nonconformances, determine root cause, and define proper rework or disposition to close nonconformance reports. You will coordinate with operations, supply chain, program management, and quality, while receiving guidance from department supervisory personnel and senior engineering staff.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance product integrity, quality, and producibility for assigned products.
- Write, maintain, and train technicians on build and test procedures.
- Lead root-cause analysis and perform Material Review Board analysis and disposition for issues, nonconformances, or ANDONs from design and production processes.
- Learn and adhere to standard business operating documents for assigned programs and manage verification of technical requirements and hardware configuration.
- Implement continuous improvement by driving robust corrective actions with Quality Engineering and improving manufacturability and testability.
- Evaluate, sustain, implement, and improve assembly and test methods, fixtures, test equipment, and software for product build, test, and delivery.
- Participate in cross-functional product teams and support groups to execute program objectives and initiatives.
- Support customer inquiries and program communications with program management direction.
- Resolve technical inquiries from supplier-made parts and processes.
- Support internal customers and cross-functional partners for assigned product and test equipment hardware/software.
- Provide drawing and procedure clarifications to machinists, technicians, and engineers.
- Perform engineering analysis using fundamentals and computational tools to verify hardware requirements and generate change or disposition rationale.
- Generate, organize, and maintain technical data, reports, presentations, and procedures for assigned programs.
- Execute and manage program engineering tasks on schedule and within established budget and scope.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- BS degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering.
- 2-5 years of experience in electronics design and manufacturing, with focus on circuit boards.
- Hands-on experience with nonconformance resolution, root-cause analysis, and MRB processes.
- Proficiency in authoring and maintaining build and test procedures and training technicians.
- Ability to evaluate and improve assembly and test methods, fixtures, equipment, and software.
- Competence with engineering analysis and computational tools for verification and disposition rationale.
- Troubleshooting skills to the electrical component and integrated circuit level.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in space, defense, or avionics production environments.
- Process improvement and corrective action leadership with Quality Engineering.
