Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Web Development Contractor (Ruby on Rails / React) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Ruby on Rails, React, TypeScript, and MySQL and a proven ability to design, deliver, and own production-ready features end-to-end.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services in Ruby on Rails.
• Develop and enhance front-end features using React and TypeScript.
• Write efficient, maintainable SQL for MySQL databases.
• Own projects from concept to production with minimal oversight.
• Debug, optimize, and ship code with attention to quality.
• Collaborate with product and design to define technical solutions.
• Ensure code quality through thoughtful reviews and testing.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails, React, TypeScript, and SQL/MySQL.
• Ability to design, implement, and ship production features end-to-end.
• Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills in English.
• 10+ years of overall software engineering experience, including 5+ years as a lead developer or founder/co-founder in a software studio or company.
• 5+ years with TypeScript and 5+ years with React.
• 5+ years of backend web development experience in Node.js, Go, or Ruby on Rails.
• Bachelor's degree with a Computer Science major or minor.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience building customer-facing web applications at scale.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery and modern code review practices.

Role Logistics

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, standard core hours, no overtime.
• Candidate location: Remote.
