Job Description

We are seeking an Industrial Controls Engineer to join our team supporting HP Industrial PageWide Web Press platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in B&R Automation Studio, IEC 61131-3 Structured Text, motion control, and mapp Technology libraries and a proven ability to deliver modular, configuration-driven control architectures that improve uptime, print quality, and throughput.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop PLC applications in B&R Automation Studio with emphasis on Structured Text.
• Implement machine functionality using mapp Technology components in lieu of custom function blocks where feasible.
• Configure and integrate mapp modules: mapp Motion, mapp Safety, mapp View (HTML5 HMI), mapp Alarm/AlarmX, mapp Recipe, and mapp OEE/Data Recorder.
• Develop standardized state machines and sequencing layered on mapp services; drive configuration-over-code practices.
• Build operator HMIs in mapp View, including roles/authentication, alarm visualization, diagnostics, and recipe management.
• Configure and commission B&R servo drives, motors, and coordinated motion systems; tune motion performance.
• Implement and support POWERLINK, PROFIBUS/PROFINET, IO-Link, Ethernet/IP, and OPC UA communications.
• Design and validate machine safety solutions; support safety commissioning and documentation.
• Commission machines at factory and customer sites; debug PLC, motion, safety, and HMI with Automation Studio diagnostics.
• Support FAT/SAT and optimize performance using mapp diagnostics, logging, and data tools.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and field service teams for system integration.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proficiency with B&R Automation Studio and IEC 61131-3 Structured Text.
• Hands-on experience configuring and integrating mapp Technology modules.
• Motion control and servo systems experience, including commissioning and tuning.
• Industrial communications knowledge: POWERLINK, PROFIBUS/PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA.
• HMI development using mapp View and binding to PLC variables and services.
• Understanding of scalable, modular, reusable control architectures and Agile/SCRUM delivery.
• Typically 4 7 years in industrial automation, machine controls, or PLC software development (or 3 5 years with an advanced degree).

Preferred Skills:

• B&R Automation Academy training in Automation Studio, mapp Technology, Motion, or HMI.
• Experience standardizing software architectures across multiple machine platforms and exposure to safety-related control systems.
