We are seeking an IT Operations Specialist (Data Center) to provide onsite operational support in Plano, TX. This role is responsible for supporting data center infrastructure, hardware lifecycle management, and maintaining accurate inventory and documentation.

Job Description

We are seeking an IT Operations Specialist (Data Center) to provide onsite operational support in Plano, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data center operations, shipping and receiving, inventory control, and physical infrastructure support and a proven ability to maintain accurate documentation, uphold SOPs, and ensure issue resolution through coordinated escalation.

Responsibilities:

• Perform shipping and receiving for data center hardware, inspect deliveries, and reconcile against purchase orders and packing documents.
• Process equipment returns (RMA), maintain tracking, and ensure proper packaging and documentation.
• Maintain accurate inventory and asset records; manage onsite supplies and staging/storage areas.
• Assist with diagramming and updating rack layouts; support equipment racking, connectivity, and cable management.
• Operate, monitor, and control enterprise data center systems following standard operating procedures.
• Identify and escalate discrepancies, delays, or equipment issues to project managers, technical teams, or vendors; document resolutions.
• Provide prompt and courteous assistance to internal and external customers supporting patient care and administrative systems.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks and support installation, moves, and de-installation of racks and computer systems as directed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Foundational knowledge of data center infrastructure, servers, storage, and structured cabling.
• Ability to read equipment quotes, packing slips, BOMs, and technical documentation; proficiency with online SOPs.
• Experience with shipping/receiving and inventory control in a technical environment.
• Troubleshooting, prioritization, and escalation skills; accountability and ownership of tasks.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
• Required onsite presence in Plano, TX; availability for on-demand assignments.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in healthcare technology environments.
• Familiarity with data center maintenance and structured cabling best practices.

Education

• Option 1: Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field and two years of technical experience in computer operations.
• Option 2: High School Diploma or GED and four years of IT technical experience focused on computer operations within a large, complex organization.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
