Position Title:
Accountant (Remote EST/CST)

Locations: Fully Remote. Prefer the candidates to sit in EST or CST.
Anticipated Start Date: 07/21
Expected Duration: 5 Months
Job Type: Contract with possible extension
Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST
Pay Rate $37.80/hr on W2.
Need: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related financial discipline - required . 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.

Job Description:
Job Title: Accountant III
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of an Accountant III is to analyze financial information and prepare comprehensive financial reports to record and assess the organization's financial activities, including assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax obligations, and other financial operations. This role involves advanced accounting functions and supports financial planning, reporting, and compliance efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting standards and internal procedures.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and analyze budgets, producing periodic reports comparing budgeted costs to actual performance.
  • Design, modify, and document accounting and recordkeeping systems, ensuring efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Calculate and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
  • Prepare accounting forms, procedures, and manuals, and direct the work of junior accounting and bookkeeping staff.
  • Collaborate with the Hiring Manager (HM) on assigned general accounting tasks, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close support.
  • Utilize Excel tools such as Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP to analyze and report financial data effectively.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of debits and credits , and apply them accurately in day-to-day accounting tasks.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related financial discipline - required .
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, Master's in Accounting) is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
  • Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting , financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
  • Solid understanding of debits and credits and their application in financial transactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel , including Pivot Tables , VLOOKUP , and other intermediate-level functions.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and company accounting policies, procedures, and regulations .
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) is a plus.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and project future business trends.
  • Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to solve complex financial problems.
Work Schedule & Location:
  • Candidate must be able to work 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST , Monday through Friday.
  • Candidates in the CST time zone are acceptable and encouraged, as long as they can adhere to the Eastern Time schedule.
  • Candidates in the PST time zone will not be considered for this position.
Experience Level & Billing Alignment:
  • This is an Accountant III-level role , typically requiring 5-7 years of relevant experience .
  • The level reflects a mid-to-senior professional with the ability to manage complex financial tasks independently and support supervisory or analytical responsibilities.
  • Bill rates will align with standard market rates for an Accountant III , factoring in education, years of experience, and technical proficiency.
