Cloud FinOps Analyst

Job Description:
Seeking a Cloud FinOps Analyst to support scientific software solutions in a public cloud environment. This role involves collaborating with scientists, software engineers, and IT professionals to analyze, forecast, and optimize cloud infrastructure and software expenses. Responsibilities include infrastructure cost estimation, cost tracking, identifying savings opportunities, tagging strategy development, and contributing to the annual budgeting process.

Responsibilities:

• Provide annual cost estimation for new and existing AWS projects
• Track and forecast costs across a portfolio of cloud accounts
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend optimization strategies
• Collaborate with IT and finance to improve budgeting and forecasting processes
• Capture, analyze, and present data on costs, utilization, waste, and savings
• Educate and coach colleagues on cloud cost monitoring and optimization
• Aggregate data from multiple systems for visualization and analysis

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technology-related field
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a cloud infrastructure or computing role
• Knowledge of AWS infrastructure and cost estimation practices
• Experience with tools for tracking and analyzing cloud usage and costs
• Strong data analysis, visualization, and storytelling skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences
