Open to EST CW Game Designer - Core Loop Quests & LiveOpsProduct Areas of Focus: Core Loop Quests & LiveOps Key Responsibilities / Role Description:
- The team is looking for a Game Designer V who has a specialty in designing quests, events, and content for live operations games.
- This is critical to expanding the core loop system across quests, rewards, seasonal content, and limited time events to improve user engagement.
- This is a new type of position for Horizon, and we are figuring out the permanent resourcing as we build this.
- This effort requires more upfront work for the team, but this position should develop and optimize the cadence as part of the effort, as well as improve the systems.
- The contract is estimated to be 10 months with the possibility of extension.
- Drive and design new quests and rewards for Core Loop.
- Improve the pipeline of quest and reward creation.
- Create calendars of content, define seasonal content and manage the economies, and strategize programming of dynamic content elements.
- Design and implement quests and experiences with satisfying and novel core mechanics and loops across a variety of content, including evergreen content, seasonal moments, and limited time events.
- Partner with art and product teams to strategize and create compelling reward assets to drive desired user behavior, while managing the overall economy ecosystem.
- Define and create best practices and frameworks that can be used to evaluate design quality, define tuning and iteration benchmarks, and evaluate releases against user goals and target metrics. Develop these frameworks into elegant processes that can be shared and aligned on with cross-functional teams and leaders.
- Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional team, leveraging user research, data science, industry best practices, and emerging trends.
- Give and solicit real time feedback from other designers to continually raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product.
- Be an advocate for the user experience from product conception to launch, as well as post-launch design support.
- Clearly articulate game design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to strategic decisions in partnership with Design, Product, Art, and Leadership teams.
- 10+ years of game design experience or a minimum of 2 shipped titles in AAA or indie game spaces.
- Experience building games with 3D engine
- Experience using or making games with a 3D engine (Unreal, Unity, etc.).
- Experience leading end-to-end development efforts and designing games or digital experiences from concept to launch.
- A portfolio that features some games you have prototyped or shipped and showcases your game design skills.
- Experience developing or designing AR or VR games.
- Experience working on live service games
- General design knowledge across various specializations such as level design, system design, economic design, or combat design.
- Experience working on live service games with knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
- General design knowledge across a range of design specializations, such as level design, system design, economy design, or combat design.
