Position Title: Data Analyst 2 (Remote)

Locations: Remote - IN

Anticipated Start Date: 04/26
Expected Duration: 24 months
Job Type: Contract to hire
Pay Rate $45.00hr. on W2
Need: 2-4yrs of experience as a Data Analyst, Data Quality, SQL or Teradata.
Interview Process: 1 - Phone Screen, 2 - Virtual Group Interview.


Job Description:
Position Purpose:
The Data Analyst is responsible for integrating, profiling, mapping, and ensuring the quality of data across business processes. This role focuses on detecting and correcting data errors, optimizing data collection and transformation efficiency, and enhancing data systems in collaboration with business stakeholders and ETL/database developers. The analyst works with moderately complex datasets to identify and resolve quality issues and contributes to the continuous improvement of data architecture and systems design.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, technical, or business-related field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science).
  • 2-4 years of relevant professional experience in data analysis, data quality, or a related area.
Technical Skills (preferred):
Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable:

  • Big Data and data processing technologies
  • Data manipulation and data mining
  • Programming experience in one or more of the following languages/tools:
    • SQL
    • Python
    • C#
    • Java
    • General programming concepts and tools
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
Soft Skills:
  • Intermediate proficiency in subject matter with a desire to deepen knowledge and expertise
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, gather and interpret data, and draw logical conclusions
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a dynamic environment
Business Unit: MHS Indiana / Data Analytics
This high-visibility department plays a critical role across the organization, directly impacting key business outcomes. The team has a collaborative culture centered on knowledge-sharing and process improvement. The current team consists of 2 contingent Data Analysts, 3 full-time Data Analysts, and 1 full-time Business Analyst.
Key Projects:
  • Ad-hoc reporting requests via JIRA, primarily focused on membership, revenue, and medical data
  • Recurring reporting for both internal departments and state compliance
Purpose of the Team:
To provide accurate, timely, and actionable data insights that inform strategic decisions across MHS Indiana.
Typical Day in the Role
  • Schedule: Standard hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET, with flexibility for earlier starts. Overtime is not anticipated.
  • Tasks & Rhythm: A combination of ad-hoc JIRA requests and recurring department/state-level reporting.
  • Team Interaction: Regular collaboration with both peers and department leaders across functions.
  • Work Environment: Professional, structured, and supportive, with a strong focus on data integrity and business value.

Candidate Requirements
Education/Certification:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred: Degree in data analytics, statistics, or a related field
Years of Experience:
  • Minimum 3+ years of analytics experience
Technical Must-Haves (Ranked by Importance):

  • SQL - Advanced proficiency; ability to write complex queries for data extraction and analysis
  • Teradata - Strong working experience with Teradata databases
  • Power BI - Experience building and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports

  • Additional Required Skills:
    • Experience with large dataset reconciliation
    • Strong validation skills to ensure data accuracy and integrity
    • Agility in shifting priorities based on changing business needs
    • Clear and effective communication, including comfort presenting to leadership
    Nice to Haves:
    • Experience in healthcare analytics
    • Familiarity with JIRA for managing and tracking ad-hoc requests
    Disqualifiers:
    • Lack of hands-on experience with SQL or Teradata
    Performance Indicators:
    • Accuracy of reports and data outputs
    • Timeliness of deliverables
    • Volume and complexity of reporting handled
