Job Description

We are seeking a Data Reporting Analytics Contractor to join our dynamic team supporting a Deloitte project. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Power BI, Azure Data Explorer (Kusto/KQL), and data modeling/DAX and a proven ability to deliver accurate, performant dashboards that provide timely, actionable cost insights and forecasts for business leaders.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain reporting solutions that provide actionable insights for decision-making.
• Develop and optimize data models, dashboards, and reports to visualize findings and KPIs.
• Build and enhance Power BI dashboards for month-to-date cost views, cost trends and drivers by portfolio/application, forecasting, and drill-downs by relevant dimensions.
• Ingest and model cost data from Azure Data Explorer using KQL and design a performant semantic model.
• Lead requirements elicitation with portfolio and application leaders and translate needs into report mockups, user stories, and iterative delivery plans.
• Define and document business rules including allocation and tagging logic, cost categories, and definitions of MTD and forecast.
• Implement report governance including refresh approach, access and security, and documentation for handoff.
• Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Gather and analyze data requirements to ensure availability of necessary data for reporting.
• Continuously optimize reports and underlying data to meet evolving business needs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Advanced Power BI expertise, including data modeling, DAX, performance tuning, and dashboard design.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Explorer and KQL for querying and shaping analytics datasets.
• Proven ability to conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops and convert ambiguous requests into clear reporting requirements.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present insights and iterate with leaders.
• Experience level: Advanced, 6-9 years in data analytics and visualization.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with FinOps practices including unit economics, showback/chargeback, cost allocation, and optimization signals.
• Experience building cost transparency reporting for Azure cloud environments.
