Expected Duration: 24 Months Contract

Position Type: Onsite Job

Pay Rate $19.76/hr on W2.

Position Description:

This position is responsible for compiling, analyzing , and verifying refund documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of information. Process refunds that include, but are not limited to; Fuel Tax, International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA), International Registration Plan (IRP), and miscellaneous revenue. This position will verify calculations for refunds, updating refund information, prepare them for approval, maintaining excel spreadsheets and various programs to reconcile accounts. Maintain records and files to substantiate all transactions are completed prior to deadlines and are within State policies, rules, procedures and department guidelines. Research refund inquiries from taxpayers and agency personnel, answer questions related to refund procedures, corresponding in a professional manner in writing and verbally. Assist where needed and other duties as assigned. This position may be called upon to drive a State or private vehicle to conduct State business.

Skills Required:

Skill in utilizing computer spreadsheets, databases, and other automated tools to complete work tasks effectively and accurately.

Skill in reconciling complex accounts.

Research and problem-solving skills.

Organizational skills.

Skill in prioritizing work activities and other to ensure that deadlines are met.

Skill in interacting effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills Preferred: Knowledge of the MAX systems

Experience Required: Experience in accounting field. Customer service.

Experience Preferred: Looking for candidates who have experience working with fuel taxes.

Education Required: College-level mathematics and accounting proficiency.

Education Preferred: 12 Semester hours or one-year governmental accounting experience which includes experience with reconciliations and working with spreadsheets and deposits or two years accounting experience.
