BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Greenhouse Associate in Research Triangle Park, NC 27709

Job Title: Greenhouse Associate

Duration: 12+months

Location: Research Triangle Park, NC 27709

Anticipated Start Date: ASAP

Job Type: Contract (40 hrs. a week) / Temp to Perm

Pay Range: 24/Hr. on W2

(Please note that actual compensation may vary within this range due to factors such as location, experience, and job responsibilities, and does not encompass additional non-standard compensation (e.g., benefits, paid time off, per diem, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general greenhouse tasks including pot and flat preparation, planting, watering, fertilizing, tying/trimming plants, seed harvesting, threshing, and counting.
• Maintain and clean greenhouses and work areas to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
• Assist in collecting plant tissue samples according to established protocols under supervision.
• Utilize data management tools to collect and record experimental data.
• Operate electronic equipment such as barcode scanners, cameras, seed threshers, and seed counters.
• Conduct pest control activities including insect scouting, pesticide/herbicide application, beneficial insect release, and integrated pest management (IPM).
• Adhere to Stewardship and Biosafety requirements, QMS directives, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Operate equipment and maintain proper documentation to ensure compliance with operational standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a Life Science field with relevant experience; or
• Associate degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or
• High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience in plant biology or greenhouse operations.
• Strong understanding of plant growth and development, with prior experience working in a greenhouse setting.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and address problems or deviations effectively.
• Proven ability to follow defined procedures and work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications.
• Physical ability to work in varying climates, lift up to 50 pounds, and commit to a 40-hour workweek.
