Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation Engineering Technician to join our team. The role focuses on fabrication and application of sensors to test hardware, routing and termination of leads, and setup and operation of measurement and recording systems within aerospace test environments. The successful candidate will demonstrate hands-on expertise with instrumentation technologies and an ability to support test operations from build through execution.
Work Schedule:
On-site, 9/80 schedule. Over a 2-week period, 9 days worked out of 10. Monday-Thursday are 9-hour days. The worked Friday is 8 hours, with every other Friday off.
Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and apply sensors to test hardware, route leads, and perform terminations to specification.
- Set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain measurement and recording systems during assembly and test.
- Develop sensor application techniques and simple fixtures or test apparatus in coordination with engineering.
- Manage instrumentation inventory and chemicals in accordance with procedures and safety standards.
- Provide engineering design support, including installation and routing plans and documentation updates.
- Author procedures to improve efficiency and capture lessons learned, and assist in training junior technicians.
- Work independently or as part of a team and act as a specialist based on experience and task complexity.
- Travel up to 15% for off-site instrumentation and test support as required.
Key Technologies and Systems:
- Strain gages, thermocouples, thermal paints and crystals.
- Pressure tubing and transducers, accelerometers, tip clearance and blade tip timing systems.
- Aerothermodynamic rakes and probe assemblies, slip rings, and telemetry systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 3+ years in electronics, maintenance practices, aerospace or adjacent fields, preferably as a technician.
- Professional workplace experience with responsibilities beyond standard technician tasks.
- Experience with gas turbine power systems and test environments.
- Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications; apply basic mathematics and measurement systems.
- Good verbal and written communication and effective teamwork skills.
- U.S. citizenship. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Education & Experience Pathways:
- In lieu of a degree: 5+ years in technical roles.
- Associate's in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Electronics, or Aviation with 3+ years in technical roles.
- Bachelor's in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Electronics, or Aviation with 1+ year in technical roles.
- Military experience with electronics or aircraft maintenance practices is acceptable.
Preferred Skills:
- Team leadership experience and mentoring of technicians.
- Instrumentation sensor application at high temperature and on rotating hardware.
- FAA Powerplant or Airframe & Powerplant licenses.
- Machining, soldering, welding, brazing, avionics, or electronics experience.
Additional Information:
- Practical skills evaluation will be conducted during the hiring process.
- Travel requirement up to 15%.
