Job Description

We are seeking a Database Engineer Contractor to join our team supporting our client project. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in MongoDB, AWS PostgreSQL, ETL, and data modeling and a proven ability to architect and optimize databases, design migration pipelines, and enforce data quality and security.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize database systems to support storage, retrieval, and analysis.
• Design and construct large relational databases to meet project requirements.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes integrating on-prem DB2 to AWS PostgreSQL and MongoDB using Precisely and Kafka pipelines.
• Model and architect MongoDB to support transformed data and downstream consumption.
• Optimize database performance and ensure efficient data retrieval.
• Implement and enforce database security to protect integrity and confidentiality.
• Perform regular data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Advanced proficiency in MongoDB, including schema design and performance tuning.
• Experience with AWS PostgreSQL and relational database design.
• Hands-on experience with data migration from DB2 to cloud databases.
• Proficiency with ETL and streaming pipelines using Precisely and Kafka.
• Knowledge of database security, data governance, and data quality practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with collaborative teamwork.
• 6-9 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with AWS services supporting data platforms.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery practices.

Project Details

• Client plans to migrate on-prem DB2 to AWS PostgreSQL for raw data, then to MongoDB (AWS) as a transaction cache.
• Transformation rules will convert raw data to a consumer-friendly format stored in MongoDB for downstream applications.
• Project stage: Sold/Funded. No expenses permitted. Work must be performed within the United States.
