Job Description
We are seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team onsite in Redmond, WA. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in developing and scaling novel manufacturing processes from concept to pilot-production and a proven ability to deliver reliable, high-performance hardware prototypes for future projects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead manufacturing engineering, system integration, and DFx in a cross-functional environment to deliver reliable, high-performance hardware prototypes.
- Scale state-of-the-art hardware prototypes from concept to pilot-production volumes.
- Develop in-house manufacturing capabilities and manage external manufacturing partnerships.
- Establish and improve processes and relationships that enable researchers and design engineers to build increasingly complex systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Process, or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of experience scaling processes to pilot-production or mass manufacture, including implementation of quality control procedures to resolve processing issues.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing techniques for robotics and soft wearable devices, including textiles, polymer processing, electromechanical integration, lamination, and adhesive bonding.
- Proficiency in process development planning, DOE, establishing critical process parameters, and defining quality control strategies.
- Project management skills with experience setting priorities for cross-functional teams to meet schedule milestones and stakeholder requirements.
Preferred Skills:
- 10+ years in early product manufacturing development.
- Experience in design and/or production of robotic systems.
- Background in mass production across multiple processes such as miniature motorized mechanisms, soft goods cutting and laminating, kitting, active optical alignment, casting, molding, machining, electronics packaging, coatings, and additive manufacturing.
- Experience with design for manufacturing, assembly, or reliability.
- Proficiency with industry CAD software such as NX or related tools.
