BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated MRO Parts Technician / Front Counter Support for an opportunity in South San Francisco, CA 94080!


Position Title: MRO Parts Technician / Front Counter Support
Location: South San Francisco, CA 94080!
Duration: 9+ Months
Anticipated Start Date: 2/24/2025
Shift Time : M-F from 7am-4pm
Pay Range: $24.00 - $26.00/hr.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive MRO Inventory Specialist to manage and maintain inventory of critical parts and consumable materials supporting research, maintenance, and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in inventory control practices, procurement, and warehouse operations. This role requires technical expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain inventory of critical parts and consumable materials using industry-standard inventory control practices.
  • Support receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by enforcing operational policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to safety and quality compliance guidelines, SOPs, and work documents.
  • Utilize a computerized inventory control system to identify and track MRO parts and materials.
  • Receive parts from standard and special purchase orders.
  • Support the new parts induction process, including creating storage locations and tracking metrics.
  • Perform physical counts of inventory and reconcile actual stock counts to reports.
  • Administer physical counting processes as needed.
  • Distribute specialized tools and materials upon request.
  • Assist in parts kitting programs, staging for PM-based activities, and tracking/disposition of surplus/obsolete inventory.
  • Conduct periodic shelf-life audits and implement solutions for parts storage optimization.
  • Assist mechanics and technicians with identifying and acquiring necessary parts and materials.
  • Act as a technical resource to the team, assisting in issue resolution.
  • Maintain understanding of MRO procurement processes and procure special orders as needed.
  • Coordinate internal transfers of shipments and carrier arrangements.
  • Perform routine clerical duties such as data entry and customer assistance.
  • Organize and maintain databases, develop reports, and analyze productivity and efficiency.
  • Execute MRO storeroom projects and contribute to process improvements.
  • Support warehouse organization procedures (5S), Lean initiatives, and process improvements.
  • Maintain a safe and organized working environment.
  • Demonstrate leadership by motivating peers, mentoring, and assisting management in coordination tasks.
  • Provide daily updates to ensure alignment between different shifts and functions.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise, strong customer service, and compliance knowledge.
  • Complete all required training activities proficiently.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma required; college-level courses in inventory control, information systems, or business preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in a parts supply house or commercial/industrial hardware store preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Intermediate knowledge of materials and tools used in trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.).
  • Basic familiarity with instrumentation equipment (flow meters, resistivity meters, sensors, transmitters, etc.) is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and vendor recommendations.
  • Proficiency in identifying industrial machinery components (pumps, motors, belts, actuators, bearings, seals, etc.).
  • Understanding of industrial parts and equipment nomenclature.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with computerized inventory control systems.
  • Experience with CMMS/ERP systems; SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • 2-5 years of experience with maintenance management systems (SAP PM and MM preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a large parts department within a manufacturing or facilities (MRO) environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years purchasing MRO materials, parts, and supplies.
  • Practical knowledge of cGMP requirements.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact with diverse teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work day or night shifts, including weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to accuracy in processing transactions and receipts.
  • Capability to traverse stairs/ladders and operate pallet jacks and forklifts (training provided).
