Job Description

We are seeking a Procurement Buyer I to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in site and global procurement, sourcing, and supplier management and a proven ability to manage end-to-end purchase order lifecycles, drive cost savings, and mitigate supplier risk.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and support site-level and global procurement initiatives for cost savings, contract opportunities, supplier quality, and risk mitigation.
  • Process requisitions and place orders with approved suppliers to support product launches, dual sourcing, and cost savings initiatives.
  • Manage the end-to-end purchase order lifecycle using JDE ERP.
  • Resolve issues related to purchase orders, deliveries, or invoices.
  • Support new product and program launches to influence sourcing decisions and meet project timelines.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of direct, indirect, and pre-commercial goods and services.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships to secure quality, competitive pricing, and favorable commercial terms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement with site and functional goals.
  • Communicate order and delivery status internally and externally in a timely manner.
  • Analyze market trends, suppliers, and performance to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Manage site direct and indirect spend as directed by the Site Procurement Manager.
  • Perform deep spend analyses to understand variances and identify cost reduction opportunities with Category Management.
  • Participate in or lead cross-functional RFPs/RFIs to reduce cost and improve quality.
  • Develop and manage key supplier relationships to meet local site needs.
  • Support Global Procurement strategic imperatives and ensure policy compliance.
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts and ensure compliance with contracts and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Provide support to resolve supplier quality issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure suppliers adhere to purchase order and contract guidelines.
  • Prepare reports for cost savings tracking, supplier spend analysis, and performance.
  • Comply with site and corporate SOPs and documented processes; maintain accurate purchasing records and pricing data.
  • Ensure CDA and SCOC compliance for all suppliers, coordinate with Legal for changes, and track status in the local database.
  • Comply with Security, EHS, Global Procurement, and Global Trade policies.
  • Act as a back-up for Direct Procurement on site when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with JDE ERP and purchase-to-pay processes.
  • Experience in sourcing, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contract compliance.
  • Analytical skills for spend analysis, market research, and supplier performance tracking.
  • Communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in business, purchasing, supply chain, finance, engineering, sciences, or related field preferred with at least 3 years of purchasing and/or supply chain experience. In lieu of a degree, at least 10 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in global operations and finance management within a regulated environment.
  • Background in pharmaceuticals or life sciences procurement.
