Position Title: Authorization Specialist
Location: Remote CST
Anticipated Start Date: 12/18/2024 - ASAP
Expected Duration: 06 months
Job Type: FULL TIME (>%3D40 HRS WEEKLY, [CONTRACT], [REMOTE]
Shift: Monday - Friday, 1230-9 or 1-930
Pay Range: $17/hr on W2
**Job Description: Authorization Specialist**
**Position Purpose:**
The **Prior Authorization Support Specialist** plays a critical role in supporting the prior authorization process for healthcare services. This position ensures that all authorization requests are handled in a timely manner, in accordance with contractual and regulatory guidelines. The role provides essential support to the Utilization Management team by assisting with accurate data entry, maintaining proper documentation, and ensuring compliance with healthcare policies.
**Education & Experience:**
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Entry-level position, requiring little or no prior experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance practices preferred but not required.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Support Data Entry & Tracking:**
Assist in entering and maintaining prior authorization requests into the utilization management system. Ensure all requests are documented and tracked according to established policies.
- **Documentation & Medical Information:**
Contribute to the authorization review process by gathering and documenting necessary medical information such as patient history, diagnosis, and prognosis for clinical review.
- **Assist in Prior Authorization Process:**
Aid the utilization management team in the ongoing tracking and documentation of authorizations and referrals, ensuring compliance with company policies and healthcare guidelines.
- **Stay Current on Healthcare Policies:**
Continuously update knowledge of healthcare authorization processes, insurance policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and effective support.
- **Other Duties as Assigned:**
Perform additional responsibilities as required to support the smooth operation of the Utilization Management department.
- **Compliance:**
Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy in all documentation and processes.
**Position Requirements:**
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize responsibilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
