Position Title: Software Engineer

Location: Eagan, MN

Anticipated Start Date: 03/03/2025

Expected Duration: 12+ Months

Job Type: Full Time (>%3D40 HRS WEEKLY) - CONTRACT - Remote

Pay Range: $45/hr - $55/hr

Please note that actual compensation may vary within this range due to factors such as location, experience, and job responsibilities, and does not encompass additional non-standard compensation (e.g., benefits, paid time off, per diem, etc.).

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the migration of an existing software application from Java 8 to Java 21, ensuring smooth transition and functionality.
• Collaborate with technical teams to redesign components and integrate modern web services or APIs where necessary.
• Participate in modernizing additional applications supported by the unit, utilizing previously developed APIs.
• Work under the guidance of senior programmers and analysts while contributing technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
• Provide technical support and maintenance for other unit-based software applications as needed.
• Follow best practices for code quality, security, and performance optimization in the development process.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Backend Development: Strong experience in Java development, specifically using the Spring Boot framework.
• Frontend Development: Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Web Services & APIs: Experience developing and integrating APIs or web services (REST, GraphQL, or SOAP preferred).
• Software Modernization: Proven ability to migrate and refactor applications from legacy technologies to modern frameworks.
• Healthcare IT Experience (Preferred): Prior experience working in healthcare software development, particularly with imaging systems and DICOM standards is a plus.
• Cloud Technologies (Preferred): Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus.

Additional Skills & Attributes:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and optimize migration processes.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with team members for planning and decision-making.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical details and work with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience with software testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
