Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Marketing Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in strategic marketing, digital marketing, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration and a proven ability to develop and execute data-driven marketing strategies that meet business objectives and measurable outcomes.

Organizational Relationships:

Reports to the Education Program Manager in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine. Collaborates with department colleagues, leaders, physician experts, and other professionals across Mayo Clinic. Partners across administrative and clinical departments including Legal, Business Development, Public Affairs, physicians and scientists, and external companies.

Position Overview:

The Senior Marketing Specialist will partner with the Program Manager, Digital Marketing team, Physicians, and Marketing to build marketing plans aligned to business objectives. The role includes strategic evaluation and execution of marketing activities, including advertising, collateral development, digital marketing, and content creation and assessment. The individual will implement, monitor, and measure results of marketing activities to advance the mission, strategic plan, and business goals. The Specialist will provide strategic marketing consultation and guidance to clients and will lead through influence. The role manages complex cross-functional projects from concept through launch and measures results. The Specialist represents Mayo Clinic internally and externally and contributes to positive relationships with colleagues, leaders, and experts. The role evaluates, analyzes, and develops strategies based on target audiences, market research, and business plans, and assesses consumer and business needs to ensure alignment. The Specialist develops a deep understanding of target audience needs, advocates for products and services that align to those needs, communicates with confidence and clarity, and represents Marketing on key committees. The role contributes to business planning, marketing strategy, and may oversee budgets and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies and plans aligned to defined business objectives.
  • Lead complex, cross-functional projects from concept through launch and performance measurement.
  • Evaluate target audiences using market research and data to inform positioning and messaging.
  • Plan and manage digital marketing, content development, and advertising initiatives.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on campaign performance, trends, and ROI to stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic consultation to clinical and administrative partners and lead through influence.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Business Development, Public Affairs, physicians, scientists, and external vendors.
  • Contribute to business and marketing planning and represent Marketing on committees.
  • Ensure on-time delivery, quality execution, and budget oversight as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Business acumen and ability to create marketing strategies aligned to business goals.
  • Leadership with proven influence skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Digital marketing execution and experience with advertising and digital channels.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, active listening, and quantitative skills.
  • Persuasive oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with target audience analysis, market research, and competitive landscape evaluation.
  • Professionalism, confidentiality, trust building, and positive influence.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with a major brand.
  • Experience with marketing automation and data analysis for trend identification.
  • Experience in healthcare or complex, matrixed organizations.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as liberal arts, business, marketing, healthcare, or similar, plus 5 years of professional marketing experience. Or a master's degree in a related field (MBA preferred) with 3 years of professional marketing experience. Strong academic performance required.
