Job Type: Contract with potential for extension
Shift: 8AM - 5PM
Pay Rate: $24.50/hour(W2)
Need:Bachelor's degree preferred with 2+ years of experience or Associate's degree with 5+ years; Plant Biology background with hands-on plant handling required; Weed Science experience preferred; must be comfortable working in greenhouse environments and with herbicides/chemicals; strong organizational skills required; PhD candidates are overqualified, and Master's degree may be considered based on experience.

The Herbicide Tolerance Assay Development and Characterization (HT-ADC) team is responsible for developing and optimizing assay platforms to identify and characterize genes related to herbicide tolerance traits.
As part of the HT-ADC team, the Laboratory Technician will support laboratory and greenhouse operations, plant handling, and experimental execution under the guidance of laboratory and/or project leads. The successful candidate will work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.

- Medical Surveillance Testing Required: Yes - Respiratory Evaluation for PAPR
- Exposure to Common Allergens: Plants, chemicals
- Adherence to safety procedures and mandatory use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

As part of the HT-ADC team, the Laboratory Technician will support laboratory and greenhouse operations, plant handling, and experimental execution under the guidance of laboratory and/or project leads. The successful candidate will work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate PPE at all times
- Perform duties in laboratory and greenhouse settings (100% site-based role)
- Conduct planting and plant care activities as needed
- Execute herbicide applications on plants using a track sprayer chamber
- Perform quality checks and sorting of plant material for experiments
- Coordinate and plan activities with cross-functional teams, including Crop Health, Herbicide Biology Discovery, and Research Enablement
- Maintain laboratory facilities and equipment in accordance with laboratory standards
- Utilize common instrumentation, including liquid handlers, imaging equipment, and automated systems
- Work comfortably with discovery chemistry, solvents, and commercial herbicides
- Perform laboratory activities requiring sterile techniques when necessary
- Accurately document experimental data under the guidance of project lead(s)
Technical & Software Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint, for effective communication and collaborative file sharing

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective documentation and communication of results
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to follow SOPs and adhere strictly to safety protocols
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Education & Experience
- Associate (2-year) or Bachelor's (4-year) degree required
- Master's degree encouraged to apply
- New graduates with laboratory experience are encouraged to apply
- Full-time position: 40 hours per week
