Job Title: IT Project Manager - Epic EHR Program
Location: Remote
Pay Rate: $53.00/hr (W2)
Duration: 6 months

Role Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Project Manager to oversee the implementation and integration of third-party applications within the Epic EHR Program. The Project Manager will manage multiple Health Information Technology (HIT) projects, including hardware, software applications, network infrastructure, and assist in business process reengineering efforts with healthcare administrators, clinicians, and allied health professionals. This role requires a deep understanding of Epic EHR systems and experience with the integration of third-party clinical applications into Epic.

Key Responsibilities:

Management Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the EHR Program Director, EHR PMO Director, Application Manager, and other project managers to coordinate project activities.
  • Ensure effective coordination and communication between NCDHHS, the Office of the State Chief Information Officer (CIO), Department of Information Technology (DIT), and the DIT/Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO).
  • Lead and manage Health Information Technology (HIT) projects, focusing on clinical information systems and healthcare application interoperability.
  • Integrate third-party clinical applications (e.g., Computrition Dietary System, Konica Minolta PACS, MiPACS Dental PACS System) into the Epic EHR System.
  • Assist the EHR PMO Director and Application Manager with business case development for approval by the Information Technology Board and Governance ITGB.
  • Apply PMI standards for project management, with experience in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies preferred.
  • Develop and maintain project plans using Microsoft Project and MS SharePoint.
  • Ensure the scope, schedule, and quality of the project in specific application areas.
  • Oversee IT project management, budgeting, QA methodologies, and vendor/contract management to meet contract deliverables.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members on project issues, success factors, and lessons learned.
  • Track and manage project issues and risks, ensuring appropriate resolution and mitigation strategies.
Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain project plans and related project artifacts.
  • Assist with business case development for governance approval.
  • Manage and track project schedules using the State Project Management System.
  • Manage project budgets as requested by management.
  • Serve as a liaison for stakeholder support in assigned areas.
  • Troubleshoot issues with project teams and vendors.
  • Guide workflow design, system build, test processes, and analyze technical issues.
  • Build project schedules in collaboration with the project team and vendors.
  • Serve as the liaison between organizational needs, vendor staff, and Epic implementation teams.
  • Communicate regularly with Epic, vendor staff, and end users to ensure system alignment with business needs.
  • Participate in the coordination of end-user training and testing for Epic and third-party applications.
  • Review project status regularly with leadership and provide feedback on issues, risks, and technology concerns.
  • Conduct weekly team meetings to discuss deliverables, issues, and upcoming milestones.
  • Provide reports to executive leadership and communicate project status and deliverables effectively.
  • Apply strong conflict resolution, creative thinking, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Project Management, or a closely related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in IT project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Epic Implementation or Operations Support Experience: 7 years required.
  • Health IT Experience: 7 years required.
  • IT Project Management: 7 years required.
  • Familiarity with HL7 Standards: 5 years required.
  • Familiarity with Mirth: 5 years required.
