Job Description

We are seeking an Application Architect III to join the Market Risk Technology team. The role will partner with senior stakeholders across Global Portfolio Analysis, Global Risk Analytics, Global Market Risk, and Front Office to deliver next-generation Market Risk technology. The successful candidate will apply strong market risk knowledge, data analysis skills, and modern engineering practices to design and deliver solutions across asset classes and support evolving regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Own workstreams with business and technology stakeholders to frame and solve business problems.
• Partner with GMFR, GRA, and MRM to elicit, document, and validate business requirements.
• Propose target-state technology solutions and drive agreement across stakeholders.
• Estimate solution costs and support the budget approval process.
• Develop prototypes using Python, SQL, and Excel/VBA to validate approaches with stakeholders.
• Consult with management to inform long-term and strategic decisions within scope.
• Perform data analysis on distributed and Big Data platforms such as Apache Hadoop.
• Collaborate to collect, cleanse, and analyze large data sets for risk use cases.
• Design data analyses, collection systems, and strategies to improve statistical efficiency and quality.
• Create visualizations, graphs, and infographics to communicate insights.
• Identify and interpret trends and patterns in complex data sets using statistical techniques.
• Apply Agile SDLC practices and partner with Product Owner/Manager to define Epics and Stories.
• Own functional design for market risk applications and coordinate technical design alignment.
• Plan and coordinate UAT, releases, and migrations. Track defects and drive resolution.
• Demonstrate new functionality to business and technology stakeholders.
• Adhere to audit-aligned risk mitigation plans and Enterprise Change Management processes.
• Escalate issues to senior partners in a timely manner.
• Drive process improvements and policy development for market risk technology.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong market risk, risk management, or front office experience across asset classes.
• Solid financial markets product knowledge and understanding of regulatory landscape.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python. Advanced Excel and VBA skills.
• Experience with Sybase databases and React.js user interfaces.
• Experience with Big Data and distributed computing platforms, preferably Apache Hadoop.
• Exposure to Agile methodologies and full project lifecycle delivery.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with large numerical data sets.
• Effective organization, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Finance, or related field.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience designing market risk applications and data pipelines.
• Background working with Global Markets risk stakeholders and model governance.
