BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Concept Artist II for an opportunity at Remote (Non Sponsorship candidates Only)

Position Title: Concept Artist II

Location: Remote

Anticipated Start Date: 12/31/2025 -

Expected Duration: 12 months

Job Type: Full Time (>%3D40 HRS WEEKLY) - Contract- Remote

Pay Range: $55-$60/hr.

Please note that actual compensation may vary within this range due to factors such as location, experience, and job responsibilities, and does not encompass additional non-standard compensation (e.g., benefits, paid time off, per diem, etc.).

Role: Concept Artist II - Games Responsibilities

Duration: 5+ months

Lead Concept Artist - Games Responsibilities

* Work with the concept team, art, and game direction to establish art style and tone guides and create inspiring mood pieces, gameplay and character ideation, sketches, and color key scripts

* Collaborate with other art and design disciplines to help steer initial conceptual direction into compelling visual and game experiences throughout development, including more detailed production callouts and reference and mood boards

* Provide feedback and mentorship to other concepts artists on the team, both for executing on a compelling vision for the games we make, as well as helping each to grow and thrive in their professional artistic careers

* Help continue expand the capabilities concept team, through training and team building,

refinements of process and techniques, and candidate recruiting and hiring

Minimum Qualifications

* 3-5 years Industry experience as a concept artist

* Portfolio that demonstrates conceptual design fundamentals and versatility in both rapid ideation sketching and production paintings

* Experienced foundational art knowledge in theories of form, value, color, proportion, anatomy, and scale

* Communication skills and experience in both effectively give and receive creative and artistic critique

* Familiarity with making games

1. Establish Art Style & Tone

• Collaborate with the concept team, art, and game direction to set art style and tone guides.
• Create inspiring mood pieces, gameplay and character ideation, sketches, and color keys.

2. Script & Visual Development

• Work with other art and design disciplines to steer initial conceptual direction into compelling visual and game experiences.
• Contribute throughout development, including detailed production callouts, reference materials, and mood boards. 3. Mentorship & Feedback
• Provide feedback and mentorship to other concept artists. 4. Guide the team in executing a compelling vision for games and support their professional artistic growth.

Must-Have Skills

Background in Gaming

• Ideal candidates should have a strong background in the gaming industry.
• Experience working on racing games is highly preferred.

Versatility in Art Styles

• Ability to provide 3-4 distinct visual styles for review and iteration.
• Demonstrates flexibility and creativity in conceptualizing different looks and feels.

2. VR Experience (Preferred)

• Experience with virtual reality (VR) platforms is a plus.
• Understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in VR game art.

Nice-to-have Skills

• Prior work specifically on racing games is a bonus, further strengthening the candidate's fit.
• Availability & Willingness
• Demonstrates flexibility in availability and a willingness to collaborate and adapt to project needs.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, design, production).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills across disciplines.
